Laya MCP server
by dockndevai
Give your AI a fast local helper that answers simple decision questions like classify, score, or yes/no.
This is a small helper program that lets your AI make quick, simple decisions about text, like sorting a message into a category or answering yes or no. It runs on your own computer and works offline. It is handy for anyone who deals with lots of emails, tickets, or messages and wants the AI to help sort or judge them without guessing.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to something else. This one connects your AI to Laya, a decision engine that runs on your machine. When you ask your AI to sort or judge something, it quietly asks Laya, and Laya gives back a clear answer.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like which team should handle this ticket. The AI sends that question and the text to this helper. The helper runs a small local model that reads the text and picks a category, a score, or a yes or no. It sends the answer back with a confidence number, so you know how sure it is. Your AI then tells you the result in plain words.
What you can do with it
- Sort a message into a category like billing, technical, or sales
- Rate how urgent something is on a scale
- Answer yes or no questions about a piece of text
- Detect what language a text is written in
- Run a ready-made triage or moderation check
- See which model would handle a request without running it
- List the available decision models and their status
Try asking your AI
- “Use laya to classify this ticket's department and whether it's a churn risk”
- “Ask laya if this email is a refund request”
- “Score how urgent this message is from 1 to 5”
- “Check if this comment breaks our moderation rules”
What it gives back to you
You get back a short answer in the chat, like a category name, a number, or a yes or no. Each answer comes with a confidence score, so you can see how sure the helper is. Sometimes you also get a list of possible answers with their probabilities. It never writes long text, just the decision.
Before you start
What you need
- Python 3.10 or newer
- pipx or pip to install the package
- A one-time internet connection to download the model files
Good to know
It only reads text and gives decisions, so it cannot change or delete anything, but it does read the text you send it, so avoid sending private information unless you trust the setup.
