Microsoft To Do MCP server

by MAG-Cie

Let your AI read and manage your Microsoft To Do lists and tasks for you.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “What do I have to do today?”, the Microsoft To Do MCP server connects it to Microsoft To Do, and you get back your tasks in plain words.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to Microsoft To Do, the task app that comes with your Microsoft account. Once it is set up, you can just ask your AI things like what is due today or to add a task, and it will do it in your real lists. It is handy for anyone who keeps their to-do list in Microsoft To Do and wants to skip the clicking around.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a little helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app. This one connects your AI to Microsoft To Do, so it can look at your lists and tasks, and change them when you ask. You install it once, sign in with your Microsoft account, and after that it just works in the background.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something about your tasks in normal words. The AI passes your request to this helper program, which talks to Microsoft To Do through Microsoft's own service. The helper sends back what it found, like your lists, your tasks, or a summary of what is due today. If you asked it to change something, it makes that change in your real Microsoft To Do account and tells you it is done.

What you can do with it

  • See all your Microsoft To Do lists
  • Check what is due today and what is overdue
  • Add a new task with a due date, reminder, or repeat schedule
  • Mark one task or many tasks as done
  • Search for a task by name across all your lists
  • Move a task from one list to another
  • Add small sub-items under a task
  • Export your tasks as a calendar file

Try asking your AI

  • “Show me all my To Do lists”
  • “What do I have to do today?”
  • “Show me my overdue tasks”
  • “Add a task called Send invoice due Friday”
  • “Mark these five tasks as done”

What it gives back to you

You get answers in the chat, in plain words. For example, a list of your tasks with their due dates and status, or a short summary of what is due today. When you ask it to change something, it tells you what it did, like which task was completed or moved. You can also ask for a calendar file if you want to import your tasks into another calendar app.
