Google Tasks MCP server

by A1-x-Tech

Lets your AI read and manage your Google Tasks lists, tasks, due dates and subtasks for you.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to your Google Tasks. Once it is set up, you can just ask in plain words what is on your list, or tell it to add, move or finish a task. It is handy if you keep your to-dos in Google Tasks and want to plan or tidy them without clicking around.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app. This one connects your AI to Google Tasks, so it can look at your lists and tasks and make changes there when you ask. You stay in the chat, and the helper does the talking to Google.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something about your tasks, like what is due this week. The AI passes that to this helper. The helper talks to Google Tasks using your Google account and brings back the lists, tasks, dates and notes. If you ask for a change, it makes that change in Google Tasks and tells you what it did. Nothing happens unless you ask.

What you can do with it

  • See all your task lists and the open tasks in each one
  • Check what is due this week or before a certain day
  • Create a new task list for a project
  • Add a task with a due date and notes, or as a subtask of another task
  • Move a task to a different spot or into another list
  • Mark a task done, or reopen it if the work comes back
  • Clear finished tasks out of view, or delete a task or list

Try asking your AI

  • “Show me my task lists and everything due before Friday in my default list.”
  • “Create a Website launch list with tasks for design, content and QA.”
  • “Add a task Send the launch announcement due Friday as a subtask of Marketing.”
  • “Mark the review task done and sweep the completed tasks out of the list.”

What it gives back to you

You get answers in the chat: lists of tasks with their due dates, notes and subtasks, or a short summary of what is open or due soon. When you ask for a change, it tells you what it created, moved, completed or deleted. You can also ask it to show hidden tasks that were swept earlier.

Before you start

What you need

  • Node.js 20 or newer on your computer
  • A Google account with Google Tasks
  • A Google Cloud project with the Google Tasks API turned on and a Desktop app OAuth client (the server walks you through this in the chat)

Good to know

Deleting a task or a task list is permanent, and deleting a list removes every task in it, so check before you confirm a delete.

Install it with your AI

Add Google Tasks MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.

Sign in to get the install prompt

Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Google Tasks MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,361 MCP servers here for you.
