UpTier MCP server
by foxintheloop
Let your AI read, sort and plan the tasks in your UpTier to-do app.

UpTier is a desktop to-do app for Windows that looks a lot like Microsoft To Do. It also comes with a small helper that lets Claude look at your tasks and help you decide what to do first. If you keep a long task list and often wonder where to start, this is for you.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. It cannot see your to-do list or tick anything off. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill, and here that skill is a connection to your UpTier task app. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI about your tasks in plain words and it can actually read and change them for you.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like "what should I work on today?" The AI passes that request to the UpTier helper. The helper opens your UpTier task database on your own computer, looks through your lists and tasks, and sends the details back. The AI then gives you an answer in the chat, and if you asked it to, it can also add a task, tick one off, or move something to another list.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Ask which task to do next and get a recommendation
- Create new tasks and lists without opening the app
- Mark tasks as done from the chat
- Sort a list into Do Now, Do Soon and Backlog
- Link tasks to a goal and check your progress
- Schedule tasks onto your day planner time grid
- Add tags and subtasks to your tasks
Try asking your AI
- “Look at my Work list and tell me what I should do first today”
- “Add a task called send the invoice to the Finance list, due Friday”
- “Prioritize my tasks using the quick wins strategy”
- “What is on my schedule for tomorrow and where do I have free time?”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in plain chat text, like a short list of tasks in priority order or a summary of what is due this week. When you ask for a change, it tells you what it did, for example that a task was created or marked complete. You can also ask for a prioritization summary or goal progress numbers. Everything shows up right in the conversation, and the change is visible in the UpTier app too.
Before you start
What you need
- The UpTier desktop app installed (a free Windows installer is on the releases page)
- Node.js 20 or newer on your computer
- Claude Desktop, if you want the AI features
Good to know
This helper can create, change and delete your tasks, so it is worth reading what it says it did before you move on.
Install it with your AI
Add UpTier MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check UpTier MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Anyone who lives in a to-do list all day, like office workers, freelancers, students and project coordinators who want help deciding what to do next.
