TickTick MCP server

by partymola

Let your AI read, add, update, complete and move your TickTick tasks for you.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “What is on my TickTick list for this week?”, the TickTick MCP server connects it to TickTick, and you get back your tasks, in plain words.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to your TickTick account. Once it is set up, you can just ask in plain words what is on your list, add a task, or tick something off. It is handy if you live in TickTick all day and want to stop switching windows to do small chores.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI one new skill or one connection to an app. This helper connects your AI to TickTick, your task app. So when you ask your AI about your tasks, it can actually look them up or change them in TickTick for you.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something like what is on my list this week. Your AI passes that request to this helper program. The helper talks to TickTick using your own account and your own login. TickTick sends back your tasks, and the helper hands them to your AI. Your AI then writes the answer out for you in the chat, in normal words.

What you can do with it

  • See all open tasks in one of your TickTick projects
  • Add a new task with a due date, priority or reminder
  • Mark a task as done
  • Move a task into a different project
  • Change details on an existing task without wiping the rest
  • Search your tasks by project, priority, tag or date
  • Turn one task into a subtask of another
  • Delete one or more tasks

Try asking your AI

  • “What is on my TickTick list for this week?”
  • “Add a task to call the dentist on Friday at 9am.”
  • “Mark the grocery task as done.”
  • “Move the budget task to the Finance project.”

What it gives back to you

You get back plain answers in the chat: lists of tasks with their titles, due dates and priorities, or a short confirmation that something was added, changed or completed. If you ask for a project with a lot of tasks, you get a trimmed list first so it stays readable. You can always ask for the full details of one task if you need them.

Before you start

What you need

  • A TickTick account
  • Python 3.13 or newer on your computer
  • The uv tool installed (a helper for running Python programs)
  • A TickTick developer app for login keys, free to create at developer.ticktick.com

Good to know

It can change and delete real tasks in your TickTick account, and your TickTick password is stored in a plain text file on your computer, so keep that file private.
